Bio

I started shooting and developing 35mm film and slides in 1979, during my freshman year in high school. The next year, I purchased my first underwater camera housing and focused primarily on underwater photography and in-water surfing events. After high school I embarked on a rather interesting career that includes college, 20 years in the military (Navy and Army, Enlisted and Officer), a commercial diver, a cruise ship dive instructor, a sales rep for Oakley and Body Glove and as a commercial construction project manager. During my youth, in the military and during my civilian travels, I was able to visit over 40 countries throughout Central America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe and all over the Caribbean.

Goals

My personal goal is to capture interesting and compelling images of people of all walks of life. My strength is probably shooting individual children and adults, but I also enjoy the challenge of shooting contemporary images of couples, small families, pets, and architecture. Regardless of the subject, my clients can be certain the end-product will be more than just a record of their existence. On every shoot, I want my work to be unique, beautiful, or interesting and capture the very core of the subject at hand. My portraits should convey who my client really is, how beautiful and unique they are, what they do and how they feel. If my works fails to satisfy the intent of the client, we will do it again until it is right.

Method

To produce a unique image or portrait there has to be open communication with the client, planning and attention to detail. I’d rather not shoot 300 frames and hope for something good. If I understand my client’s goals and likes before the shoot, I can have the appropriate game-plan and equipment in place so we have the mood and composition from the beginning and our time is spent making key adjustments. I am dedicated to continually improving my skills and creativity through workshops, seminars and peer critiques. When you work with me, the sessions are relaxed and we build the shot a little at a time because good results rarely happen by accident and great results take time and purpose. Take a look at the images on my site here and see if my technique works for you. I want to make you look good and be proud of the images for years to come.

Where

I live and work in Denton, Texas but I regularly service a much larger area including Dallas, Fort Worth and everything between. The location of the shoot is up to the client. I have a small studio in my home, but I will also travel to the clients’ home, business or other venue.

How

Just contact me by phone or email. We will discuss your project needs, the costs, when we can do it and where. This isn’t Olan Mills but my services are priced very reasonably for the product I provide. If you aren’t satisfied then you don’t pay anything.
