Saturday morning I arrived in Lewisville to photograph my clients, an expectant mother and her husband at their residence. This type of photography goes by a few different names: Maternity Photography, Pregancy Portraits or Belly Shots. Many photographers will specialize in maternity and newborn images; for example, Diana Hall in Plano does a great job.


Maternity images are not my specialty but I was lucky to have a great client. They did their homework beforehand on what type of images they were after. With the help of her husband we moved some furniture around in the living room and set up the equipment. We took our time and built each shot, step by step until we had it and moved on to the next one. The entire shoot lasted about 4 hours and included numerous lighting and background changes, clothing changes for five different concepts, a lunch-break and finally some headshots of the very attractive soon-to-be mom.
